Somerset vs Glamorgan one day match after washout at Trent bridge

The 2024 Metro Bank One-Day Cup final between Somerset and Glamorgan was postponed to a reserve day after heavy rain washed out play on Sunday, September 22, at Trent Bridge.

Despite multiple attempts to start the match, persistent rain meant the toss couldn't even take place, leading umpires to abandon the day’s play around 2:30 pm local time.

The cut-off for a start had been set at 4:02 pm, but the weather never allowed ground staff to prepare the pitch. Both teams are now scheduled to attempt a full 50-over contest on the reserve day, Monday, September 23.

However, the weather forecast remains unfavorable, with further rain predicted. If no result is possible on the reserve day, the title will be shared between Somerset and Glamorgan, which would be a first in the history of England's one-day competitions.

Somerset, winners in 2019, are seeking redemption after narrowly missing out on the County Championship title, while Glamorgan, the 2021 champions, are looking to end a tough season on a high note.
